Join Jana Song Bobo at ABAM for a wire-wrapping workshop!
In this “Make and Take” class, participants will learn to wire wrap and decorate a seashell and a corroded shell found in Neptune Beach. While these items will be available for use, individuals are welcome to bring fairly flat objects they wish to wrap and decorate. Once finished, pieces can be worn as pendants or used for various decorative functions.
Through the process of completing their projects, participants will learn the use of basic hand tools, wire manipulation, wire wrapping and wire weaving techniques.
Brief illustrations and demonstrations will be followed by hands on activity with plenty of individual supervision and assistance.
Tickets are $55 per person.
All materials will be provided and sets of tools will be available for use in the class.
Instructor: Jana Song Bobo
Jana Song Bobo is a classically trained pianist who has had a life-long love of unique jewelry. She has been designing and creating hand made jewelry for over twenty years. Throughout this time, she has been selected to several juried shows and is an active member of numerous artist cooperatives.
Jana’s versatility is reflected in a variety of techniques and methods used in her jewelry making process. These include lost wax casting, soldering, precious metal clay, chain mail, and wire wrapping/weaving. Though sterling and fine silver are Jana’s primary metals of choice, she also works with cooper and gold. Gemstones and glass cabochons are often featured in many of her pieces.
Jana’s extensive teaching experiences includes serving as a music department instructor at universities, as well as teaching jewelry at artist cooperatives and charitable organizations prior to arriving in Jacksonville, FL in 2017. Currently, she is a faculty member of the OLLI program at the University of North Florida.
Social distancing and disinfection practices will be implemented in the store and in the classroom to ensure participants’ health and safety. As such, classes are limited to 4-6 participants, depending on the project. We ask that all students wear masks. Thank you.
