She also teaches watercolor through community education at Fletcher High School. The objective of my class is to play with color\, creating a beautiful\, textured\, abstract background\, then create a heart by layering handmade papers. All materials will be provided\, including handmade papers\, heavy body and fluid acrylic paints\, paint pens\, glue\, brushes and tools. SUMMARY:2-Day Pottery Workshop: Christmas Tree Luminaries (Day 1)
DESCRIPTION:Join Gloria at ABAM to make 1 large & 1 small Christmas tree luminaries on Wednesday\, 9/11 and 9/25 from 5:30pm-7:30pm!\n\n\nThis workshop occurs on two days: \n\nWednesday\, 9/11 from 5:30pm-7:30pm and\nWednesday\, 9/25 from 5:30pm-7:30pm\n\nDay 1 of this course will cover a basic introduction to slab building to construct 2 slab hand built Christmas tree decor pieces\, using a small and large template. We will be using a mid-fire clay body (firing to cone 5-6). Students will be able add Decorative techniques using stamps\, cookie cutters\, and texture lace will be provided to use in the design. Students may also bring their own decorative tools\, including but not limited to cookie cutters\, lace etc.\, to create a personalized piece. \nThe second day of this course will take place two weeks later to allow drying and bisque fired prior to glazing. During the second day\, the student will glaze their piece using premixed glazes supplied by Gloria. \nThe pieces will then be kiln fired by the instructor and then the students will be called once the pieces are available to pick up at the store\, within 1-2 weeks after glazing (the second day). \nStudents will develop a basic foundation in ceramic arts geared towards beginner through advanced skill level.
