DESCRIPTION:Join Jana Song Bobo at ABAM for a wire-wrapping workshop!\n\n\n\nThis is a “Make and Take” class where participants will create two(2) wire wrapped rings: one sterling silver ring with three gemstone beads and one copper ring with spiral top. \nIn the process\, they will learn the use of basic hand tools\, accurate measurement of ring sizes\, use of ring mandrel and wire manipulation. \nBrief illustrations and demonstrations will be followed by hands on activity with ample individualized supervision and assistance. \nTickets are $55 per person. \nAll materials will be provided and sets of tools and ring mandrels will be available for use in the class. \nInstructor: Jana Song Bobo \nJana Song Bobo is a classically trained pianist who has had a life-long love of unique jewelry. She has been designing and creating hand made jewelry for over twenty years. Throughout this time\, she has been selected to several juried shows and is an active member of numerous artist cooperatives. \nJana’s versatility is reflected in a variety of techniques and methods used in her jewelry making process. These include lost wax casting\, soldering\, precious metal clay\, chain mail\, and wire wrapping/weaving. Though sterling and fine silver are Jana’s primary metals of choice\, she also works with cooper and gold. Gemstones and glass cabochons are often featured in many of her pieces. \nJana’s extensive teaching experiences includes serving as a music department instructor at universities\, as well as teaching jewelry at artist cooperatives and charitable organizations prior to arriving in Jacksonville\, FL in 2017. DESCRIPTION:Join Jana Song Bobo at ABAM for a wire-wrapping workshop!\n\n\n\nIn this “Make and Take” class\, participants will learn to wire wrap and decorate a seashell and a corroded shell found in Neptune Beach. While these items will be available for use\, individuals are welcome to bring fairly flat objects they wish to wrap and decorate. Once finished\, pieces can be worn as pendants or used for various decorative functions. \nThrough the process of completing their projects\, participants will learn the use of basic hand tools\, wire manipulation\, wire wrapping and wire weaving techniques. \nBrief illustrations and demonstrations will be followed by hands on activity with plenty of individual supervision and assistance. \nTickets are $55 per person. \nAll materials will be provided and sets of tools will be available for use in the class. \nInstructor: Jana Song Bobo \nJana Song Bobo is a classically trained pianist who has had a life-long love of unique jewelry. She has been designing and creating hand made jewelry for over twenty years. Throughout this time\, she has been selected to several juried shows and is an active member of numerous artist cooperatives. \nJana’s versatility is reflected in a variety of techniques and methods used in her jewelry making process. These include lost wax casting\, soldering\, precious metal clay\, chain mail\, and wire wrapping/weaving. Though sterling and fine silver are Jana’s primary metals of choice\, she also works with cooper and gold. Gemstones and glass cabochons are often featured in many of her pieces. \nJana’s extensive teaching experiences includes serving as a music department instructor at universities\, as well as teaching jewelry at artist cooperatives and charitable organizations prior to arriving in Jacksonville\, FL in 2017. The first piece of jewelry I ever crafted that made me feel like “wow\, I made that!” was a simple stacking ring. A few years ago\, I thought I’d love to pass along that excitment and teach classes on how to solder and make beautiful sterling rings. \nAll supplies\, tools\, etc. will be provided along with a list of the supplies/tools that we use in the class in case you want to continue your silversmithing journey. I will also provide hands on detailed step by step instructions and you will take home the set of 3 sterling silver stacking rings that you will create. If you can use a creme brulee torch and hold a light hammer\, then I promise you that you CAN learn to make these beautiful rings. \nOther things to consider: \n\nIf you wear prescription glasses or readers\, bring them as we will be working with small details\, joins\, etc.\nIf you have long hair\, bring a hair clip or rubber band to pull it back\nThis class is best suited for ages 16 and up.\n\n  \nSocial distancing and disinfection practices will be implemented in the store and in the classroom to ensure participants’ health and safety.
