DESCRIPTION:Join Gloria & Chelsea at ABAM\, for a 2-day course in slab hand building to create your own ceramic Christmas tree lanterns! \n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a 2-day workshop\, two weeks apart: \n\n5:30 pm -7:30 pm\, Thursday\, October 27th and Thursday\, November 10th\n\nStudents will develop a basic foundation in ceramic arts geared towards beginners. Those with an intermediate skill level are welcome as well\, but should anticipate this course to be an introduction to the medium. \nDay 1 of this course (Thursday\, October 27th) will cover a basic introduction to slab building to construct a cone-shaped tree\, using a mid-fire clay body (firing to cone 5-6). Students will add decorations and texture\, then finish their trees off with shape cutters so that a tea light or candle will shine through. Decorative techniques using stamps\, cookie cutters\, and texture lace will be provided to use in the design. Students may bring their own decorative tools\, including but not limited to cookie cutters\, to create personalized Christmas trees! \nThe second day of this course will take place over a week later on Thursday\, November 10th\, as the pieces will need to slowly dry\, and be bisque fired prior to glazing. Her previous career was as an art director in New York City. She has been working in watercolors for years. As a member of the Jacksonville Watercolor Society\, Roseann has won many awards. \nRoseann was most recently the Artist in Residence for the Arts in Medicine Program at U F Health (Shands) Hospital in Jacksonville. Previously Roseann was the Art Teacher for grades K-12 at Mainspring Academy\, and Collage School in Ponte Vedra\, both schools for students with autism and special needs. She also teaches watercolor through community education at Fletcher High School. Roseann has also demonstrated at the Cummer Museum in Jacksonville\, and has been a recipient of the Jacksonville Community Foundation Grant for Individual Artists. Her work has appeared on the cover of New Smyrna Magazine. DESCRIPTION:Join artist\, Linda Hawkins\, for a fun watercolor pet portrait workshop! \n\n\n\n\n\nThis fun 2 1/2-hour class will cover fundamental watercolor techniques and you will leave with an original portrait of your best friend\, whether it is a dog\, cat\, bird\, or reptile. You can create a custom portrait of your pet even if you’ve never painted\, haven’t painted since you were a kid or are a beginner. You will learn painting techniques like color mixing\, wet-on-wet\, wet-on-dry & more. No painting or drawing experience is required. Linda will show you how to transfer your photo onto the watercolor paper making it easy to get a great likeness of your pet. Then she will guide you\, helping define the right colors\, showing you how to mix them\, when to work wet or dry. Then helping you to put the final touches on your original pet portrait. \n  \nPlease bring a really good headshot of your pet sized to fit an 8” x 10” size watercolor sheet. DESCRIPTION:Join us at ABAM to make your own beautiful set of stackable rings! \n\n\n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, you will learn the basic soldering techniques while making your own rings\, as well as applying textures and patinas. You will learn basic torch use\, the different types of solder and tricks and tips on soldering and texturing metal. There will be three different wire types to work with: twisted wire; square wire; and rounded wire. \nYou will leave this workshop with 3 beautiful textured sterling silver rings of your own making and the knowledge to make more. \nEverything you need in the workshop will be supplied in the cost of the class\, as well as a written guide for you to be able to continue creating at home. I will also supply you with my phone number just in case you have any questions. \nPlease come equipped with glasses/reading glasses if you need them.
