DESCRIPTION:Join Gloria at ABAM for a 2-day wall pocket pottery workshop on Thursday\, 3/30 and Thursday\, 4/13! \n\n\nStudents will develop a basic foundation in ceramic arts geared towards beginner through advanced skill level. Students can anticipate this course to be an introduction to the medium and guidance to create a finished product. \nThis workshop occurs on two days\, two weeks apart: \n\nThursday\, 3/30 from 5:30pm-7:30pm and\nThursday\, 4/13 from 5:30pm-7:30pm\n\nDay 1 of this course will cover a basic introduction to slab building to construct a slab hand built wall pocket hanging piece \, using a mid-fire clay body (firing to cone 5-6). Students will be able add Decorative techniques using stamps\, cookie cutters\, and texture lace will be provided to use in the design. Students may also bring their own decorative tools\, including but not limited to cookie cutters\, lace etc.\, to create a personalized planter. \nThe second day of this course will take place two weeks later to allow drying and bisque fired prior to glazing. As a member of the Jacksonville Watercolor Society\, Roseann has won many awards. \nRoseann was most recently the Artist in Residence for the Arts in Medicine Program at U F Health (Shands) Hospital in Jacksonville. Previously Roseann was the Art Teacher for grades K-12 at Mainspring Academy\, and Collage School in Ponte Vedra\, both schools for students with autism and special needs. She also teaches watercolor through community education at Fletcher High School. Roseann has also demonstrated at the Cummer Museum in Jacksonville\, and has been a recipient of the Jacksonville Community Foundation Grant for Individual Artists. Her work has appeared on the cover of New Smyrna Magazine. You will learn basic torch use\, the different types of solder and tricks and tips on soldering and texturing metal. There will be three different wire types to work with: twisted wire; square wire; and rounded wire. \nYou will leave this workshop with 3 beautiful textured sterling silver rings of your own making and the knowledge to make more. \nEverything you need in the workshop will be supplied in the cost of the class\, as well as a written guide for you to be able to continue creating at home. I will also supply you with my phone number just in case you have any questions. \nPlease come equipped with glasses/reading glasses if you need them. DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, students will create a decorative pot\, bowl\, or vase using the coil method. Coils can be twisted\, braided\, stamped\, exposed\, or smoothed to build an organic vessel with emphasis on form\, shape\, space\, and texture. Coil building began with the Anasazi in North America and continues as a strong tradition with Native Americans today. Students will roll coils and then “score and slip” to attach them together to create their own unique pieces!
