SUMMARY:Wired Up For Ammonites Workshop *SOLD OUT*
DESCRIPTION:Join Jana Song Bobo at ABAM for a wire-wrapping workshop!\n\n\n\nIn this “Make and Take” class\, participants will learn wire-wrapping techniques to create a setting for an ammonite and wire weaving skills to decorate the piece. \nAmmonite is possibly the most widely known/ available fossil which typically shows a ribbed spiral-form shell.\n \nAt completion\, they will know the use of basic hand tools\, wire manipulation\, wire wrapping and weaving techniques\, as well as adding decorative touches.\n \nBrief demonstrations will be followed by hands on activity with plenty of individual assistance. All materials will be provided and sets of hand tools available for the use in the class. \nTickets are $55 per person. \nAll materials will be provided and sets of tools will be available for use in the class. \nInstructor: Jana Song Bobo \nJana Song Bobo is a classically trained pianist who has had a life-long love of unique jewelry. She has been designing and creating hand made jewelry for over twenty years. Throughout this time\, she has been selected to several juried shows and is an active member of numerous artist cooperatives. \nJana’s versatility is reflected in a variety of techniques and methods used in her jewelry making process. These include lost wax casting\, soldering\, precious metal clay\, chain mail\, and wire wrapping/weaving. Though sterling and fine silver are Jana’s primary metals of choice\, she also works with cooper and gold. Gemstones and glass cabochons are often featured in many of her pieces. \nJana’s extensive teaching experiences includes serving as a music department instructor at universities\, as well as teaching jewelry at artist cooperatives and charitable organizations prior to arriving in Jacksonville\, FL in 2017. Currently\, she is a faculty member of the OLLI program at the University of North Florida. \nSocial distancing and disinfection practices will be implemented in the store and in the classroom to ensure participants’ health and safety.
