We will create ceramic bowls with jungle gem glazes, ceramic monsters, as well as amazing 3-D mosaic art inspired by Alma Thomas.

Students will learn to create pinch pots which they will glaze with jungle gems glazes. Next they will create pinch pot monsters that willInclude all the fundamentals of ceramics- they will learn to roll coils, score, slip, and attach wacky features to their creations. They will also create one free choice project with clay. While the pottery is being fired in the kiln, we will explore artist Alma Thomas and create Alma Thomas inspired mosaics.

All Supplies are included. All your kiddo needs to bring is a snack and water bottle!

Camp runs from 2:00pm- 5:3O pm, daily Monday, July 29th through Friday, August 2nd.

Instructor Bio: Heather DeSpain is a dedicated and passionate art teacher currently inspiring young minds at Jacksonville Beach ElementarySchool where she was just awarded teacher of the year.Heather inspires a life long love for art, self expression, and creativity In her students. In addition to her role in the school system, Heather has successfully ran Mrs. DeSpain’s Art Camp, and Art Dojo Jax for the past decade.
