2-Day Ceramic Workshop: Ornaments or Christmas Tree Lanterns – DAY ONE *SOLD OUT*

This is a 2-day workshop, three weeks apart:

• 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, Monday, November 21st and Monday, December 12th

Students (ages 12 and up) will develop a basic foundation in ceramic arts geared towards beginners. Those with an intermediate skill level are welcome as well, but should anticipate this course to be an introduction to the medium.

Day 1 of this course (Monday, November 21st) will cover a basic introduction to slab building to create you project, using a mid-fire clay body (firing to cone 5-6).

For the ornaments: Decorative techniques using stamps, cookie cutters, and texture lace will be provided to use in the design. Students may bring their own decorative tools, including but not limited to cookie cutters, to create personalized ornaments! Each student will make approximately 6-12 ornaments, as time allows.

For the Christmas trees: Students will add decorations and texture, then finish their trees off with shape cutters so that a tea light or candle will shine through. Decorative techniques using stamps, cookie cutters, and texture lace will be provided to use in the design. Students may bring their own decorative tools, including but not limited to cookie cutters, to create personalized Christmas trees!

The second day of this course will take place over two weeks later on Monday, December 12th, as the pieces will need to slowly dry, and be bisque fired prior to glazing. During the second day, the student will glaze their piece using premixed coyote, amaco or mayco glazes supplied by Gloria.

The pieces will then be kiln fired by the instructor and then the students will be called once the pieces are available to pick up at the store, within 1-2 weeks after glazing (the second day).
