2-Day Pottery Workshop: Ceramic Ornaments (6PM) – Day One
November 9, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$45There are two sets of times to sign up for:
- 2pm-4pm, Tuesday, November 9th and Thursday, November 18th, OR
- 6pm-8pm, Tuesday, November 9th and Thursday, November 18th
Students will develop a basic foundation in ceramic arts geared towards beginners. Those with an intermediate skill level are welcome as well, but should anticipate this course to be an introduction to the medium.
Day 1 of this course (Tuesday, November 9th) will cover a basic introduction to slab building to create holiday ornaments, using a mid-fire clay body (firing to cone 5-6). Decorative techniques using stamps, cookie cutters, and texture lace will be provided to use in the design. Students may bring their own decorative tools, including but not limited to cookie cutters, to create personalized ornaments! Each student will make approximately 6-10 ornaments, as time allows.
The second day of this course will take place over a week later on Thursday, November 18th, as the pieces will need to slowly dry, and be bisque fired prior to glazing. During the second day, the student will glaze their piece using premixed coyote, amaco or mayco glazes supplied by Gloria.
The pieces will then be kiln fired by the instructor and then the students will be called once the pieces are available to pick up at the store, within 1-2 weeks after glazing (the second day).
Ticket Cost*: $45, materials and supplies (clay, glazing, pottery tools, & decorative tools) included.
